Media and Public Notice: Planned emergency water supply interruption – Lower Thukela WaterWorks

uMngeni-uThukela Water (UUW) hereby informs all affected stakeholders of a planned 16 hour emergency water supply shutdown from the Lower Thukela Waterworks to KwaDukuza. The shutdown will start at 06h00 on Wednesday until 22h00 on the same day.

This interruption is necessary to carry out urgent pipeline repairs over the Stanger River Bridge. During the shutdown, the following critical maintenance activities will be conducted:

• Removal and replacement of pipework and fittings
• Removal and replacement of three scour valves

The shutdown is scheduled to proceed unless disrupted by adverse weather conditions. A final confirmation of the shutdown will be issued by the afternoon of Tuesday, 01 July 2025, should any changes become necessary.
